Bulk Reef Supply, one of the leading suppliers for saltwater aquarium supplies in the United States, reported their website was hacked between July 30th, 2014 and January 22, 2015. Passwords, email addresses and credit card information may have been exposed as a result of this breach.

The company issued a letter to all customers who could potentially be at risk, apologizing for any inconveniences that has occurred. Bulk Reef Supply also posted a security update on its website detailing how the hack was discovered, and the steps the company has taken to resolve the incident. The security update emphasized that social security numbers and other highly sensitive information was not collected during the breach.

There is no information on the number of consumers who were impacted, but Bulk Reef Supply encouraged its shoppers to monitor their credit card accounts and change their website passwords. The company offered free credit monitoring services to all affected customers, which is accessible through an access code sent out in the letter.

The security update states, "All of us at BRS have worked tirelessly, and continue to do so, in order to make this right. All of us here want you to know how much your patience and loyalty means to us during this difficult time."
